The Project

In autumn 2024, the time has come - we are publishing the first volume of GIALLO MOVIE POSTERS!

This project is an absolute labour of love with a rather bumpy genesis. The idea has been around for a few years now and was initially discarded because it seemed too complex, expensive and difficult to realise.

Last year there was a suggestion to try a stripped down version of the project, but after some initial testing we rejected it again as it did not meet our own requirements. So, at the beginning of this year, we plucked up our courage and dedicated ourselves to the subject of 'Giallo film posters' in the way we originally wanted and as the genre deserves.

Our aim is nothing less than to present the entire genre, which now spans over 60 years and, depending on how you count it, over 300 films, as completely as possible through film posters. The aim is to present a meaningful selection of posters for each genre-relevant title. In addition to the absolute classics (to which we naturally give a little more space), this also includes many smaller films, some of which are quite unknown or have fallen into oblivion. The books also contain a lot of interesting, exciting and sometimes curious information about the images they contain. And, of course, we hope to whet your appetite for a film or two that you might otherwise have missed.

As with our previous books and magazines, we have taken great care to ensure the best possible reproduction quality of the posters. Therefore, in addition to posters from our own archive and posters on loan from fellow collectors and poster dealers, we have gone to great lengths to purchase, photograph or scan several hundred more original posters and professionally process them for the book series.

The decision to publish a four-volume series instead of a thick tome of 800 pages or more has several reasons and ultimately benefits not only us, but also the readers. The most important advantage for everyone: as a small publisher, we would not have been able to handle such an 800-page book, either logistically or financially. The project would have been finished before we started. And for many readers, the price of such a book would certainly have been more painful than that of four volumes in two years. This particularly affects our readers outside Germany and Europe, and these customers account for a significant proportion of our publications.

Our current plan is to publish all four volumes over a period of two years. We hope that with the publication of the final volume we will also be able to offer you a high-quality slipcase for all four books - optional, of course, for those of you who are interested.

As far as our work on the series is concerned, we have already prepared much more than 'just' the first and second volume. We already have over 1,000 of the 1,200+ posters planned. This selection already covers almost all the films we want to present. So we are well prepared for the remaining volumes ;-)
